16 Writing Pen 01 Winter Memory 02 Sol Invictus 03 Christmas Hope 04 An Old Book ****************************************************************************************************
Before the sunrise when all is still dark I will remember the moments we shared When love newly found was all we could care As life exalted imprinted its mark Before the sunset by a sea-side park I will celebrate the promise we dared To make truthfully with words we have read By which our hearts answered what was asked Even if the years of growing older Have erased youthful emotions so much Something from the past did somehow linger Writing Pen As a memory of our first touch Soneta 048 Thus with thanksgiving will I bless always Petrarca The joyful feelings from those bygone days AD 2002
02 Sol Invictus Now is the season of festivity Great celebration of the golden sun A time to rejoice and enjoy the fun And embrace this pleasant life lovingly Now is the time of perfect harmony When signs of wars may no longer be found While peace and goodwill extend all around To warm every heart with heaven’s mercy Although very dark this cold winter’s night A shining hope dawns in every corner Writing Pen For that distant sun fiery and bright Soneta 049 Will soon come again closer and nearer Petrarca To gladden the land with a joyous spring AD 2002 And pleasant living that summer will bring
Upon this day so blessed and happy Greetings and wishes cheer up many hearts Gathering friends from many diverse parts In a seasonal bond of unity Then none should be left so cold and lonely Despitefully used to act as die-hards And thereby condemned to play the wrong cards Through endless cycles of life’s misery Was it not the hope from so long ago That the first Christmas began for mankind And in their hearts planted that it may grow Writing Pen Into a community well refined Soneta 050 A world where no one may be forsaken Petrarca A place where all faults shall be forgiven AD 2002
04 An Old Book There it was written on the yellowed page, Addressed to a name, from his family, Upon Christmas day, in a bygone age, The year so inscribed, ‘Nineteen Thirty Three.’ In Oriel House, somewhere in England, A book was given for pleasure reading, One hundred essays of some famous men, Would its reader find highly appealing. Truly a good book for all the seasons, To pass idle times, or some sleepless nights, Writing Pen Its pages contain true lofty visions, Soneta 057 Which direct the minds, towards greater heights. Anglicia For twenty two years this book has been mine, AD 2003 A source of delight I would always find.
