27 Great Disaster

01 The Earth Was Moved  02 When All Was Done  03 While The Dead Lie

01 The Earth Was Moved

The earth was moved by the tectonic plates

Ocean floor ruptured shaking the geat sea

High towering waves rushing fast so free

Bringing to the coasts some devilish fate

Death came so swiftly on this tragic date

  Ending many lives, spreading misery

Being unaware thousands could not flee

And became victims in their drowning state

    Huge calamity befell many lands

      Creating losses through vast destruction

Was it nature in its terrible wrath                                      Great Disaster

Which that day conquered the proud world of man?                 Sonnet 080

Never could one know its true intention                                     Petrarca

Or why cruelty should lie in its path                                         AD 2004

         02 When All Was Done

When all was done and the sea receeded

Eyes could not believe nor mind understand

For hard it is to truly comprehend

That so many lives have the floods ended

Row upon row the dead lie in silence

With bewilderment in their cold faces

Mostly naked or with tattered dresses

Their stiff bodies expressed their life' absence

        Wealth disappeared and property ruined

          Years of hard-work suddenly wasted

Great Disaster                       And soon these places would be infested

Sonnet 081                         With diseases that could inflict more pain

Petrarca A                              Killer tsunami did come to destroy

AD 2004                                Human creation and its short-lived joy

03 While The Dead Lie

While the dead lie in silence so complete

With staring eyes that looked cold and empty

Survivors cried out for some sympathy

Or food or help in their hour of need

  Seemingly dazzled some asked tearfully

For news of loved ones whom they dearly cared

And when the truth told was too hard to bear

Crying sobs were heard asking God's mercy

This painful sense many did come to share

As thousands began to keep on searching

For the thousands still reported missing                          Great Disaster

Perhaps killed in groups, alone or in pairs                              Sonnet 082

Bitter tears of pain were shed on that day                          Petrarca S

For lost were the words to say or  to pray                              AD 2004
